Teltonika RUTM54 power supply and cables

Three ways to power the Teltonika RUTM54, a 5G router: a 230 V wall supply, a 12/24 V car cable and a screw terminal cable. All fit its 4-pin socket.

  • 4-pin socket
  • 9 to 50 V DC
  • Peak 11.6 W at 12 V

We sell the cable, not the router. This page is about powering the Teltonika RUTM54. We make the cables and the supply. The router itself comes from Teltonika and its resellers.

About the Teltonika RUTM54

The RUTM54 is a five-port 5G router with dual SIM, dual-band Wi-Fi, GNSS and USB. It is close to the RUTM50 in features but intended for global use, and at full load it is one of the hungrier RUTM models.

It is used on vehicles and at remote sites that need 5G, location data and several wired devices.

How much power the RUTM54 draws

On 12 V, the Teltonika RUTM54 draws about 967 mA at its busiest, or 11.6 W. Left idle it sits near 3.1 W. Our 230 V supply is rated 1.5 A, so the router uses roughly 64% of it at peak. At 24 V Teltonika lists a peak of 11.8 W.

Which cable should I pick?

  • Wall socket. For a desk, a shop or any spot with a wall socket. Uses about 64% of the supply at peak.
  • Vehicle. For 12 V cars and 24 V trucks. The RUTM54 accepts up to 50 V.
  • Cabinet, battery or solar. For DC rails, batteries and solar. Green and white bring out the I/O. Add a 2 A slow-blow fuse near the source.

Install tips

  • On vehicles, use the car cable for a quick install or the screw terminal cable for a permanent one. Both pass the vehicle voltage straight through.
  • The Teltonika RUTM54 is rated to 50 V, which gives good margin on 24 V vehicles. A clean supply is still the best protection against spikes.
  • Do not let the cable hang from the plug. A cable tie a few centimetres from the socket stops vibration from working it loose.

Teltonika RUTM54 power FAQ

?What voltage does the Teltonika RUTM54 need?

The Teltonika RUTM54 takes 9 to 50 V DC, so 12 V, 24 V and even 48 V systems are within range.

?Does the Teltonika RUTM54 come with a power supply?

New units usually ship with a 9 V wall adapter. A second cable makes sense for spares, a second site, or an install where a wall plug is not practical, such as a vehicle or a DIN rail cabinet.

?Is the 230 V supply enough for the Teltonika RUTM54 with GNSS and USB in use?

Yes. Teltonika measured about 11.6 W at full load on 12 V. That leaves about 6 W on our 18 W supply for any USB device.

?Can I use the input and output on the Teltonika RUTM54 with your cable?

Yes. The screw terminal cable brings pin 3 (digital input) out on the green wire and pin 4 (digital output) on the white wire. Configure them in RutOS under Services, Input/Output.

?Do you sell the Teltonika RUTM54 itself?

No. We only make the power cables and the supply. The Teltonika RUTM54 is sold by Teltonika's distributors.
