Teltonika RUTM51 power supply and cables

Need power for a Teltonika RUTM51? It is a 5G router that takes 9 to 50 V DC, and all three of our cables fit its 4-pin socket.

  • 4-pin socket
  • 9 to 50 V DC
  • Peak 9 W at 12 V

We sell the cable, not the router. We do not sell the Teltonika RUTM51 itself. What you can order here is the cable or supply that powers it, made by us.

About the Teltonika RUTM51

The RUTM51 is a five-port 5G router with dual SIM, dual-band Wi-Fi and USB, and an LTE Cat 12 fallback when 5G is not available. It shares the larger RUTM housing with the RUTM50 and RUTM54.

It is a common choice in Europe for sites that want 5G but still spend time on 4G.

How much power the RUTM51 draws

The numbers are small: 3.3 W at idle and 9 W at full load, measured by Teltonika at 12 V. That peak works out at about 749 mA, or 50% of our supply's rating.

Peak at 12 V: 9 W of the 18 W our 230 V supply delivers

Which cable should I pick?

  • Wall socket. The simple choice indoors: plug in and the RUTM51 starts.
  • Vehicle. Plugs into a 12 or 24 V socket. Vehicle voltage passes straight to the router.
  • Cabinet, battery or solar. Permanent wiring in a cabinet or vehicle, 2 m long. Add a 2 A slow-blow fuse near the source.

Install tips

  • Plan for the 4G fallback too: put the router where both 5G and 4G signals are decent, and keep the power cable out of the antenna path.
  • The Teltonika RUTM51 is rated to 50 V, which gives good margin on 24 V vehicles. A clean supply is still the best protection against spikes.
  • Use a decent supply. Teltonika warns that cheap adapters can send voltage spikes when plugged in or unplugged, and those spikes can damage the router.

Teltonika RUTM51 power FAQ

?What is the input voltage range of the Teltonika RUTM51?

Anything from 9 to 50 V DC on the 4-pin socket. Our 12 V supply, a 24 V truck system or a 48 V DC rail all work.

?Why buy a separate power cable for the Teltonika RUTM51?

The adapter in the box only works with a wall socket. In a vehicle, a cabinet or on a battery, the car cable or the screw terminal cable is the better fit.

?How does the Teltonika RUTM51 compare to the RUTM50 for power?

They are almost the same. Teltonika measured both at about 9 W at full load on 12 V, so any of our three cables handles either one.

?What do the green and white wires do on the Teltonika RUTM51?

Green is the digital input on pin 3 and white is the digital output on pin 4. You set up both in the RutOS web interface.

?Will the 230 V supply run the Teltonika RUTM51 at full load?

Yes. Teltonika's full-load figure is 9 W at 12 V, which leaves 9 W unused.

?Is the Teltonika RUTM51 included with the cable?

We do not sell the Teltonika RUTM51. Our shop has three power options for it, and that is all we sell for Teltonika devices.
