Teltonika RUTM30 power supply and cables

Three ways to power the Teltonika RUTM30, a 5G router: a 230 V wall supply, a 12/24 V car cable and a screw terminal cable. All fit its 4-pin socket.

  • 4-pin socket
  • 9 to 50 V DC
  • Peak 9 W at 12 V

We sell the cable, not the router. This page is about powering the Teltonika RUTM30. We make the cables and the supply. The router itself comes from Teltonika and its resellers.

About the Teltonika RUTM30

The RUTM30 is a small 5G router with support for both standalone and non-standalone 5G, dual SIM, two Gigabit Ethernet ports and dual-band Wi-Fi. Its two I/O pins on the power socket are configurable, so each can be set as an input or an output.

It suits small sites that want 5G speed without the larger five-port housing.

How much power the RUTM30 draws

With everything busy, Teltonika's figure for the Teltonika RUTM30 is 9 W at 12 V, and about 2.9 W at rest. Even that peak leaves 9 W spare on the 18 W supply. At 24 V Teltonika lists a peak of 9.4 W.

Which cable should I pick?

  • Wall socket. For a desk, a shop or any spot with a wall socket. Uses about 50% of the supply at peak.
  • Vehicle. A quick vehicle install with a fused plug and LED.
  • Cabinet, battery or solar. Bare ends for 12, 24 or 48 V DC, with the I/O wires included. Add a 2 A slow-blow fuse near the source.

Install tips

  • Configurable I/O defaults can differ between firmware versions. Check the setting in RutOS before connecting a sensor or relay to the green or white wire.
  • The Teltonika RUTM30 is rated to 50 V, which gives good margin on 24 V vehicles. A clean supply is still the best protection against spikes.
  • Measure the voltage at the router end once installed, especially with long cable runs on 12 V systems.

Teltonika RUTM30 power FAQ

?What voltage does the Teltonika RUTM30 need?

The Teltonika RUTM30 takes 9 to 50 V DC, so 12 V, 24 V and even 48 V systems are within range.

?I lost the adapter for my Teltonika RUTM30. What do I need?

Any DC supply within 9 to 50 V DC on a Teltonika-style 4-pin plug will work. Our 230 V supply gives 12 V at 1.5 A, which suits the Teltonika RUTM30.

?How do the configurable I/O pins on the Teltonika RUTM30 work with your cable?

The screw terminal cable brings pins 3 and 4 out on the green and white wires. You choose in RutOS whether each one acts as an input or an output.

?Does the screw terminal cable give access to the Teltonika RUTM30's I/O?

Yes. Both pins are configurable as input or output in RutOS, and the screw terminal cable brings them out on green and white.

?How much headroom does the Teltonika RUTM30 leave on an 18 W supply?

Plenty. At 9 W peak, the Teltonika RUTM30 uses 50% of 18 W.

?Do you sell the Teltonika RUTM30 itself?

No. We only make the power cables and the supply. The Teltonika RUTM30 is sold by Teltonika's distributors.
