230 V power supply
Fine in normal use. At full load with USB devices it runs close to the supply's 18 W limit.

Three ways to power the Teltonika RUTC42, a dual-modem 4G edge router: a 230 V wall supply, a 12/24 V car cable and a screw terminal cable. All fit its 4-pin socket.

Fine in normal use. At full load with USB devices it runs close to the supply's 18 W limit.

Plugs into a 12 or 24 V socket. Vehicle voltage passes straight to the router.

Best for heavy loads: connect to a stronger 24 V DC supply.
At full load Teltonika measured the Teltonika RUTC42 at 16.8 W on 12 V, close to the 18 W our 230 V supply delivers. Normal use is lower, but if you run USB devices or keep it busy all day, use the screw terminal cable with a stronger 24 V DC supply.
The RUTC42 is a dual-modem edge router with two LTE Cat 4 modules for failover and load balancing, plus Docker support and a powerful CPU. Teltonika lists it as the replacement for the RUTX12. It also draws the most power of the RUTC models at 12 V after the RUTC54.
It is meant for sites that cannot go offline and that also want to run applications locally.
| Pin | Function | Our wire |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Power (+) | Red |
| 2 | Ground (-) | Black |
| 3 | Digital input | Green |
| 4 | Digital output | White |
Only the screw terminal cable brings out pins 3 and 4. The other two options carry power only.
Teltonika measured the Teltonika RUTC42 at 4.6 W when idle and 16.8 W at full load on a 12 V supply, about 1401 mA. That is 93% of what our 18 W supply can deliver. At 24 V Teltonika lists a peak of 15.6 W.
The Teltonika RUTC42 takes 9 to 50 V DC, so 12 V, 24 V and even 48 V systems are within range.
The adapter in the box only works with a wall socket. In a vehicle, a cabinet or on a battery, the car cable or the screw terminal cable is the better fit.
Usually yes, but it is tight at full load. Teltonika measured about 16.8 W at 12 V with both modems, Wi-Fi, CPU, USB and serial devices busy. For heavy use or extra USB devices, use the screw terminal cable with a stronger 24 V DC supply.
Green is the digital input on pin 3 and white is the digital output on pin 4. You set up both in the RutOS web interface.
No. We only make the power cables and the supply. The Teltonika RUTC42 is sold by Teltonika's distributors.
