Teltonika RUTX12 power supply and cables

Everything about powering the Teltonika RUTX12, a industrial dual-modem 4G router: the voltage it accepts, its real power draw and the cables that fit.

  • 4-pin socket
  • 9 to 50 V DC
  • Peak 11.7 W at 12 V
  • End of life

We sell the cable, not the router. Only the power side is ours. The Teltonika RUTX12 is made and sold by Teltonika, while the cables below are made and shipped by Smart Power Cable.

End of life

Teltonika has announced end of life for the Teltonika RUTX12. Orders are accepted until 3 February 2027, production runs until 3 August 2027 and support continues until 3 August 2032. Teltonika names the Teltonika RUTC42 as the replacement, and it also fits our cables.

About the Teltonika RUTX12

The RUTX12 has two LTE-A Cat 6 modems, so it can use two operators at the same time for load balancing or instant failover. Add five Gigabit ports, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GNSS, and you get a router for jobs where downtime is not acceptable.

It is used for live video, events and emergency services, where two connections at once really matter.

How much power the RUTX12 draws

With everything busy, Teltonika's figure for the Teltonika RUTX12 is 11.7 W at 12 V, and about 3.7 W at rest. Even that peak leaves 6.3 W spare on the 18 W supply. On a 24 V supply the peak is about 11.9 W.

Peak at 12 V: 11.7 W of the 18 W our 230 V supply delivers

Which cable should I pick?

  • Wall socket. A replacement for the original adapter, with 6.3 W of spare capacity.
  • Vehicle. For 12 V cars and 24 V trucks. The RUTX12 accepts up to 50 V.
  • Cabinet, battery or solar. For DC rails, batteries and solar. Green and white bring out the I/O. Add a 2 A slow-blow fuse near the source.

Install tips

  • Two modems mean two sets of antennas. Plan the cable route before you mount the router, so the power lead does not cross the antenna cables.
  • The Teltonika RUTX12 is rated to 50 V, which gives good margin on 24 V vehicles. A clean supply is still the best protection against spikes.
  • Insulate any wire you do not use. A loose green or white wire touching the cabinet can trigger an input or short an output.

Teltonika RUTX12 power FAQ

?Can I run the Teltonika RUTX12 on 12 V or 24 V?

Yes. The Teltonika RUTX12 accepts 9 to 50 V DC, which covers 12 V, 24 V and most 48 V DC installations.

?Does the Teltonika RUTX12 come with a power supply?

New units usually ship with a 9 V wall adapter. A second cable makes sense for spares, a second site, or an install where a wall plug is not practical, such as a vehicle or a DIN rail cabinet.

?Does the Teltonika RUTX12 need more power with two modems running?

More than most, but still well within range. Teltonika measured about 11.7 W at full load on 12 V. Our 18 W supply has margin for that, though less if you add a heavy USB device.

?Can I use the input and output on the Teltonika RUTX12 with your cable?

Yes. The screw terminal cable brings pin 3 (digital input) out on the green wire and pin 4 (digital output) on the white wire. Configure them in RutOS under Services, Input/Output.

?Does Smart Power Cable sell Teltonika routers?

Not the router, no. We are an independent maker of power cables. The Teltonika RUTX12 is a Teltonika product sold through their own channels.
