Teltonika RUTC41 power supply and cables

Everything about powering the Teltonika RUTC41, a 4G edge router: the voltage it accepts, its real power draw and the cables that fit.

  • 4-pin socket
  • 9 to 50 V DC
  • Peak 13.4 W at 12 V

We sell the cable, not the router. Only the power side is ours. The Teltonika RUTC41 is made and sold by Teltonika, while the cables below are made and shipped by Smart Power Cable.

About the Teltonika RUTC41

The RUTC41 is an edge router with 4G Cat 4, Wi-Fi 6, 1 GB of RAM, a dual-core 1.3 GHz CPU and built-in Docker. It is similar to the RUTC40, and it peaks at about 13.4 W at 12 V in Teltonika's measurements, a little lower than the RUTC40.

It suits industrial sites that want to collect and process data locally before it goes to the cloud.

The car cable and the 230 V supply only use pins 1 and 2. The I/O wires are on the screw terminal cable.

How much power the RUTC41 draws

The numbers are small: 4.3 W at idle and 13.4 W at full load, measured by Teltonika at 12 V. That peak works out at about 1118 mA, or 74% of our supply's rating. On a 24 V supply the peak is about 12.9 W.

Which cable should I pick?

  • Wall socket. A replacement for the original adapter, with 4.6 W of spare capacity.
  • Vehicle. For 12 V cars and 24 V trucks. The RUTC41 accepts up to 50 V.
  • Cabinet, battery or solar. For DC rails, batteries and solar. Green and white bring out the I/O. Add a 2 A slow-blow fuse near the source.

Install tips

  • If the RUTC41 sits in a closed cabinet with heavy CPU use, check the cabinet temperature. Heat is more often the limit than power.
  • The Teltonika RUTC41 is rated to 50 V, which gives good margin on 24 V vehicles. A clean supply is still the best protection against spikes.
  • Insulate any wire you do not use. A loose green or white wire touching the cabinet can trigger an input or short an output.

Teltonika RUTC41 power FAQ

?Can I run the Teltonika RUTC41 on 12 V or 24 V?

Yes. The Teltonika RUTC41 accepts 9 to 50 V DC, which covers 12 V, 24 V and most 48 V DC installations.

?Does the Teltonika RUTC41 come with a power supply?

New units usually ship with a 9 V wall adapter. A second cable makes sense for spares, a second site, or an install where a wall plug is not practical, such as a vehicle or a DIN rail cabinet.

?Can I run Docker containers on the Teltonika RUTC41 with your 230 V supply?

Yes. Teltonika measured the RUTC41 at about 13.4 W at full load on 12 V, which leaves roughly 4.5 W of headroom on our 18 W supply.

?Can I use the input and output on the Teltonika RUTC41 with your cable?

Yes. The screw terminal cable brings pin 3 (digital input) out on the green wire and pin 4 (digital output) on the white wire. Configure them in RutOS under Services, Input/Output.

?Does Smart Power Cable sell Teltonika routers?

Not the router, no. We are an independent maker of power cables. The Teltonika RUTC41 is a Teltonika product sold through their own channels.
