Teltonika RUT950 power supply and cables

Need power for a Teltonika RUT950? It is a four-port 4G router that takes 9 to 30 V DC, and all three of our cables fit its 4-pin socket.

  • 4-pin socket
  • 9 to 30 V DC
  • Peak 5.5 W at 12 V
  • End of life

We sell the cable, not the router. We do not sell the Teltonika RUT950 itself. What you can order here is the cable or supply that powers it, made by us.

End of life

Teltonika stopped taking orders for the Teltonika RUT950 on 31 July 2023 and supports it until 31 July 2028. The official replacement is the Teltonika RUT901. These use the same 4-pin socket, so our cables fit them too.

About the Teltonika RUT950

The RUT950 was Teltonika's go-to four-port 4G router for years, with dual SIM, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and the wide RUT9 housing. It has now reached end of life, but it was sold in large numbers and many are still running in shops, offices and on vehicles.

If yours is still in service, a fresh cable or supply is often the cheapest way to keep it going until you plan the swap.

How much power the RUT950 draws

Teltonika measured the Teltonika RUT950 at 1.6 W when idle and 5.5 W at full load on a 12 V supply, about 462 mA. That is 31% of what our 18 W supply can deliver.

Peak at 12 V: 5.5 W of the 18 W our 230 V supply delivers

Which cable should I pick?

  • Wall socket. The simple choice indoors: plug in and the RUT950 starts.
  • Vehicle. Plugs into a vehicle socket. Fused, with an LED in the plug.
  • Cabinet, battery or solar. Permanent wiring in a cabinet or vehicle, 2 m long. Add a 2 A slow-blow fuse near the source.

Install tips

  • Older RUT950 units have often been powered by the same adapter for years. If a router starts rebooting at random, a tired adapter is a common cause and a cheap thing to rule out first.
  • On 24 V vehicles, add surge protection. Truck and bus systems can spike well above 30 V at engine start, and the Teltonika RUT950 is only rated to 30 V.
  • Use a decent supply. Teltonika warns that cheap adapters can send voltage spikes when plugged in or unplugged, and those spikes can damage the router.

Teltonika RUT950 power FAQ

?What is the input voltage range of the Teltonika RUT950?

Teltonika specifies 9 to 30 V DC for the Teltonika RUT950. Both 12 V and 24 V supplies sit comfortably inside that window.

?Why buy a separate power cable for the Teltonika RUT950?

The adapter in the box only works with a wall socket. In a vehicle, a cabinet or on a battery, the car cable or the screw terminal cable is the better fit.

?Will the same cable work when I replace my Teltonika RUT950?

Yes. Teltonika's replacement is the RUT901, which uses the same 4-pin socket and the same 9 to 30 V range, so the cable can stay.

?What do the green and white wires do on the Teltonika RUT950?

Yes. Teltonika labels pins 3 and 4 on the Teltonika RUT950 as I/O, and our screw terminal cable brings them out on the green and white wires.

?Will the 230 V supply run the Teltonika RUT950 at full load?

Yes. Teltonika's full-load figure is 5.5 W at 12 V, which leaves 12.5 W unused.

?Is the Teltonika RUT950 included with the cable?

We do not sell the Teltonika RUT950. Our shop has three power options for it, and that is all we sell for Teltonika devices.
