Teltonika RUTX14 power supply and cables

Three ways to power the Teltonika RUTX14, a industrial 4G router: a 230 V wall supply, a 12/24 V car cable and a screw terminal cable. All fit its 4-pin socket.

  • 4-pin socket
  • 9 to 50 V DC
  • Peak 11 W at 12 V
  • End of life

We sell the cable, not the router. This page is about powering the Teltonika RUTX14. We make the cables and the supply. The router itself comes from Teltonika and its resellers.

End of life

Teltonika has announced end of life for the Teltonika RUTX14. Orders are accepted until 3 February 2027, production runs until 3 August 2027 and support continues until 3 August 2032. Teltonika names the Teltonika RUTM50 as the replacement, and it also fits our cables.

About the Teltonika RUTX14

The RUTX14 is the RUTX router with an LTE Cat 12 modem, for higher 4G speeds than the Cat 6 models. It has five Ethernet ports, dual SIM, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and USB.

It is a good choice in areas with strong 4G coverage where 5G is not yet reliable.

How much power the RUTX14 draws

Teltonika's power table puts the Teltonika RUTX14 at 3.4 W idle and 11 W flat out at 12 V. In current that is about 920 mA, against the 1500 mA our supply can give. At 24 V Teltonika lists a peak of 11.2 W.

Which cable should I pick?

  • Wall socket. For a desk, a shop or any spot with a wall socket. Uses about 61% of the supply at peak.
  • Vehicle. Plugs into a 12 or 24 V socket. Vehicle voltage passes straight to the router.
  • Cabinet, battery or solar. Permanent wiring in a cabinet or vehicle, 2 m long. Add a 2 A slow-blow fuse near the source.

Install tips

  • A Cat 12 modem working hard warms up. Give the router some space in the cabinet and do not bundle the power cable tightly against the housing.
  • The Teltonika RUTX14 is rated to 50 V, which gives good margin on 24 V vehicles. A clean supply is still the best protection against spikes.
  • Use a decent supply. Teltonika warns that cheap adapters can send voltage spikes when plugged in or unplugged, and those spikes can damage the router.

Teltonika RUTX14 power FAQ

?What voltage does the Teltonika RUTX14 need?

The Teltonika RUTX14 takes 9 to 50 V DC, so 12 V, 24 V and even 48 V systems are within range.

?Why buy a separate power cable for the Teltonika RUTX14?

The adapter in the box only works with a wall socket. In a vehicle, a cabinet or on a battery, the car cable or the screw terminal cable is the better fit.

?What is the successor to the Teltonika RUTX14?

Teltonika lists the RUTM50 as its replacement. The RUTM50 also uses the 4-pin socket with 9 to 50 V, so the cable stays.

?What do the green and white wires do on the Teltonika RUTX14?

Green is the digital input on pin 3 and white is the digital output on pin 4. You set up both in the RutOS web interface.

?Will the 230 V supply run the Teltonika RUTX14 at full load?

Yes. Teltonika's full-load figure is 11 W at 12 V, which leaves 7 W unused.

?Do you sell the Teltonika RUTX14 itself?

No. We only make the power cables and the supply. The Teltonika RUTX14 is sold by Teltonika's distributors.
