Teltonika RUT202 power supply and cables

The Teltonika RUT202 is a compact 4G router with a 4-pin power socket. Here is what fits it, what it draws, and which cable suits your install.

  • 4-pin socket
  • 9 to 30 V DC
  • Peak 3.2 W at 12 V

We sell the cable, not the router. Good to know: we sell the power cable, not the Teltonika RUT202. If you need the router, buy it from a Teltonika distributor and pick the lead here.

About the Teltonika RUT202

The RUT202 takes the small RUT2 format and adds a second SIM, so the router can fall back to another operator when the first network drops. Teltonika calls it its smallest dual-SIM industrial LTE Cat 4 router, and it keeps the SIM cards inside the housing where they are harder to tamper with.

That makes it a common pick for unattended sites where one operator alone is not reliable enough, such as vending machines, rural pumping stations and alarm panels.

How much power the RUT202 draws

On 12 V, the Teltonika RUT202 draws about 264 mA at its busiest, or 3.2 W. Left idle it sits near 1.1 W. Our 230 V supply is rated 1.5 A, so the router uses roughly 18% of it at peak. Teltonika's 24 V figure is 3.2 W at peak.

Peak at 12 V: 3.2 W of the 18 W our 230 V supply delivers

Which cable should I pick?

  • Wall socket. 12 V from a wall socket. The RUT202 peaks at 3.2 W, well within the 18 W rating.
  • Vehicle. Plugs into a vehicle socket. Fused, with an LED in the plug.
  • Cabinet, battery or solar. Permanent wiring in a cabinet or vehicle, 2 m long. Add a 2 A slow-blow fuse near the source.

Install tips

  • Because the SIM cards live inside the case, swap them before you mount the router on a DIN rail or behind a panel. It saves taking the whole install apart later.
  • On 24 V vehicles, add surge protection. Truck and bus systems can spike well above 30 V at engine start, and the Teltonika RUT202 is only rated to 30 V.
  • Keep the screw terminals tight and check them once a year in vehicles or cabinets with vibration.

Teltonika RUT202 power FAQ

?Which input voltage does the Teltonika RUT202 accept?

Anything from 9 to 30 V DC works, so a 12 V battery, a 24 V truck system or our 12 V supply are all fine. Stay below 30 V, including spikes.

?Why buy a separate power cable for the Teltonika RUT202?

The adapter in the box only works with a wall socket. In a vehicle, a cabinet or on a battery, the car cable or the screw terminal cable is the better fit.

?Does dual SIM change how much power the Teltonika RUT202 needs?

No, only one SIM is active at a time. Teltonika measured a peak of about 3.2 W at 12 V, which is a fraction of what our 18 W supply delivers.

?What do the green and white wires do on the Teltonika RUT202?

Green is the digital input on pin 3 and white is the digital output on pin 4. You set up both in the RutOS web interface.

?Can I buy the Teltonika RUT202 from you?

No, the router is not included. You get the cable or supply you order, and the Teltonika RUT202 itself comes from a Teltonika reseller.
