The Strong Leap Una is a Full HD Android TV stick made for smaller screens: the bedroom, the kitchen, the holiday home or the caravan. Those are exactly the places where a spare wall socket is hard to find, so running it from the TV’s USB port makes a lot of sense.
Why the Una needs help on TV USB
Strong lists the Leap Una at 5 V and 1 A through micro-USB, with up to 5 W while working. Its support pages warn that generic 0.5 A power supplies are not enough and may cause instability. Many TV USB ports are 0.5 A ports, so the Una can freeze or reboot when it is powered from the TV alone.
How the Smart Power Cable works
The cable stores energy from the USB port in a built-in buffer and releases it when the Una draws more than the port can provide. Instead of a supply that dips, the stick gets a steady one.
Before first use, charge the cable for about 60 minutes. It then stays topped up from the port.
Installation
- Connect the Leap Una to an HDMI port, using the HDMI extender if space is tight.
- Attach the Smart Power Cable to the stick’s micro-USB power port.
- Plug the USB end into the TV’s USB port.
- Turn on the TV and follow the Android TV setup.
Small TVs at home and 12 V TVs on the road
Second TVs at home often hang on a wall or sit on a shelf with no socket nearby. The Smart Power Cable takes care of that. In a motorhome, caravan or on a boat, smaller 12 V TVs are common, and most have a USB port. Connect the Una through our cable to that port, or to a 12 V USB socket if the TV port is too weak.
Good to know before you buy
The Leap Una and the Leap Air look alike but they are different sticks. The Una is Full HD and runs Android TV, the Air is 4K and runs Google TV. Both take power through micro-USB and both have been tested with our cable, so you can use the same Smart Power Cable if you later upgrade to the Air. Keep the original power supply for TVs without a USB port.

Frequently asked questions
Can I power the Strong Leap Una from the TV?
Yes, with the Smart Power Cable. Without it, a 0.5 A TV port is often not enough.
Is it suitable for a caravan TV?
Yes. It runs from the TV’s USB port or from a 12 V USB socket.
Does it work with the Leap Air too?
Yes. The Strong Leap Air 4K has also been tested with the Smart Power Cable.
What if the TV switches off USB power?
The stick will restart when the TV comes back on. A separate USB source keeps it on all the time.
