We are often asked whether the Smart Power Cable works with Chromecast Ultra. The short answer is no, and we do not list it as compatible.

What Google says

Google states that Chromecast Ultra won’t work with any other USB cable, or with any USB cable plugged into a TV. It has to run on the power supply it came with, which also holds its Ethernet port. You can read this on Google’s Chromecast help page.

What to use instead

If you want a Google device for 4K streaming that runs from the TV’s USB port with our cable, choose Chromecast with Google TV or the Google TV Streamer.
