The Formuler Z Mini packs Formuler’s well known interface into a small stick, and many IPTV users choose it for exactly that reason. It still comes with its own power supply. With the Smart Power Cable you can power it from the TV and skip the extra plug.
Why live TV needs steady power
Formuler rates the Z Mini at 5 V and 1 A over USB-C, with up to 5 W in use. Live IPTV keeps the stick busy all the time: decoding video, buffering and refreshing the guide. A TV USB port that delivers around 0.5 A can let the voltage drop during those loads, and a restart in the middle of a match is the result.
How the Smart Power Cable keeps it on
Our cable has a built-in energy buffer. It collects energy from the USB port and supplies it to the Z Mini whenever demand rises above what the port can give. The stick stays powered and the stream keeps going.
Charge the cable for about 60 minutes on a USB port before first use.
Installation
- Plug the Formuler Z Mini into an HDMI port on the TV.
- Connect the Smart Power Cable to the Z Mini’s USB-C power input.
- Plug the USB end into the TV’s USB port or a USB charger.
- Switch to the HDMI input and open your IPTV app.
At home or on 12 V
At home you get a clean install on a wall-mounted TV. Many travellers take their Formuler on the road for live sport and news. In a motorhome or caravan, the Smart Power Cable lets the Z Mini run from a 12 V TV’s USB port or a 12 V USB socket, with no inverter needed. On a boat it is just as simple.
Good to know before you buy
Live TV is less forgiving than on demand streaming. A video service can buffer through a short dip, but a live channel will often freeze or reconnect. That is why stable power matters so much on the Z Mini. If your TV has several USB ports, test each one, because some deliver more current than others. A USB charger is the fallback when no TV port is strong enough.

Frequently asked questions
Can the Formuler Z Mini run from TV USB?
With the Smart Power Cable, yes. The buffer covers the peaks that a TV port alone cannot.
Does it work in a motorhome on 12 V?
Yes. Use the TV’s USB port or a 12 V USB socket.
Will it affect my IPTV stream?
No. It only supplies power. Stream quality depends on your connection and service.
Can I use a Formuler USB-C hub at the same time?
Hubs and accessories add to the power draw. We recommend powering the Z Mini without extra accessories when using the TV’s USB port.
